The Emperor Constantine was crowned in York in AD306 http://www.bbc.co.uk/northyorkshire/iloveny/romans/2004/constantine_great/index.shtml which is why this statue is outside the Minster. I took this photo while I was watching the cycle race. I liked the bloke on his phone.
