It is nearly 30 years since I left Islington Council. Back in the day, the Workers Cafe opposite the town hall was a greasy spoon that was ideal if you needed to eat before an evening committee meeting in the town hall. That hall of formica and fried food is long gone but the name lives on down the road. Only the new Worker's Cafe has got an apostrophe and dinky little spades to stir your tea with. Quite nice nonetheless.
