Danielle had never been to the Finger Lakes in upstate New York [and nor had I] so we had a look and stayed a couple of days there. Really beautiful glaciated ribbon lakes and surprisingly undeveloped. These steps took us down to the lake shore from where we were staying.
The nearest town was Ithica [home to Cornell University] which was a great little university town with the famous [to us anyway] vegetarian restaurant The Moosewood where we had lunch. We felt so at home in the town that I nearly ended up buying a Telecaster in the old-style guitar shop - managed to resist.
Wineries abound around the lakes, and we visited one for a tasting which led to a small purchase, the whites were really nice. Some goats cheese from the local creamery and our dinner was sorted.
