For the first time in my life I will not be voting for Labour in the general election. York is a constituency where there is no chance of the Tories getting in, so my vote for the Lib Dem candidate can only help to send a message to Labour - that the war in Iraq was wrong and a disastrous mistake - with no danger of a Tory success. It felt odd putting the tick in a different box but also strangely empowering. I am now looking forward to watching the election result. My dream scenario would be Labour in power but needing Lib Dem support... we will see.
